Privacy and Sharing Your Information:

I will not sell your email and personal information or use your information in any form other than what you sign up for and allow. This may be for the purpose of sending you notifications of new blog posts or information you have requested to receive, it may be for sending email offers and messages to specific lists that have subscribed to receive them. You can at any time ask to unsubscribe or be removed from future contacts. I use security tools on my site to protect your information, but I am not liable for data breaches that are outside my control, or that happen to third parties with whom I partner, or who provide me with Internet services. I will do all I can to protect your information and privacy, but I do not control all sites or services that I use in the course of my business.
I have also enabled Google Analytics on my site. I primarily use this to train others and show clients samples of how Analytics works, but Google does use cookies to track demographics and user behaviors. For a full list of how Google uses your data, please review their privacy policy.

Updates to support GDPR:

If you are located in the European Union, these changes will go into effect for you as of May 23, 2018. If you are located outside of the European Union, these changes will go into effect for you as of June 23, 2018. As a company that provides services within the United States, most of the changes required by EU law will not apply; however, we are part of the larger Internet family and as such we will inform you of your rights if you do interact with our site. We already protect your privacy and do not use your data for purposes other than specifically stated on our site, but the law requires that we better explain our privacy practices to you to reflect changes required by the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Your rights under the GDPR:

There are several rights an individual may exercise under the GDPR, including:

  • Right of access: Individuals can ask for a copy of the personal data retained about them and an explanation of how it is being used.
  • Right to rectification: Individuals have the right to correct, revise or remove any of the personal data retained about them at any time.
  • Right to be forgotten: Individuals can ask to delete their personal data.
  • Right to restrict processing: If an individual believes, for example, that their personal data is inaccurate or collected unlawfully, the individual may request limited use of their personal data.
  • Right of portability: Individuals have the right to receive their personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.
  • Right to object: Where an individual decides that they no longer wish to allow their personal data to be included in analytics or to receive direct marketing emails or other personalized (targeted) marketing content at any time, the individual may opt out of use of their data for these purposes.

Please note that these rights are not absolute, and limitations/exceptions may apply in some cases. We are monitoring the service providers that our company works with to ensure that each of them makes changes specifically to support the GDPR, but we do not control their data collection behaviors and cannot guarantee that they will follow their own stated policies.

Disclosure of Affiliate Links:

I do use some affiliate links on this site and receive compensation when people use the links. These programs are offered by companies to partners, existing customers, and promoters to help sell and recommend their products. However, I will only review and recommend products and/or companies that I either use or personally believe in and will give you my honest opinion about a product. I will not recommend or review a product and/or company solely for compensation, only those that I believe are fair and provide quality or value. However, any product claim, statistic, quote, or other representation of a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer, provider or party in question. I appreciate your willingness to support me through these extra revenue options.

When using advertising, it will clearly state “Advertising” above an ad. I may or may not endorse those ads as they are generated by third-party advertising companies such as Google Adsense. Affiliate links:

I am a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associate Program which means when you click on an Amazon link or image and purchase from Amazon I may receive a commission. There is no extra charge to you. I thank you for supporting me by using links through my site.
I am also a partner with Constant Contact and the use of my affiliate link to sign up for monthly services with their company does grant me a commission. Free trial accounts may be offered and do not count toward commissions, only accounts that sign up for ongoing services and pay monthly/yearly fees apply. You can read their privacy statement here: http://www.constantcontact.com/legal/privacy-statement
As a customer of Dreamhost, I am also a member of their affiliate program. You can sign up for web hosting through my affiliate link, and it will grant me a one-time commission for each new account. If I set up web hosting on your behalf, I will use the affiliate option, but I will inform you of that fact beforehand. There is no extra cost to you, and this often comes with special discount prices for the first year of service. Their terms and conditions: https://www.dreamhost.com/legal/affiliate-terms-and-conditions/
This site may also be the participant of other affiliate marketing companies. Product links and/or images that are affiliate links mean that when you click on that link or image and purchase from that company I may receive a commission. There is no extra charge to you. Some companies may send you offers or offer you options to sign up for product or service updates outside of my own control or privacy policies. If this happens and you feel the companies are being excessive or not respecting opt-out choices, please inform me so I can add warnings or remove their links if necessary.
FTC requires any site/blog that receives any monetary compensation to officially disclose so. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”
